WAITEKAURI.

As will be seen by referring to the news from v Ohinemuri, appearing in another column the { Waitekauri retorting has taken place, the result of the fortnight's operations being 722 ounces which, on being added to the 643 ounces obtained, by last fortnight's retorting, brings the returns for the month up to the respectable total of 1370 ounces retorted gold. This is very good, and is just 70 ounces more than the " tip " of the Star's Ohinemuri -. correspondent published yesterday. The^j gold when melted at the Bank of New Zealand to-day (having arrived by steamer) weighed 1358 ounces.
