Thames Water Supply Committee.
The ordinary meeting of the above Committee was held at the- Borough Council Chamber last night. Present-— Dr. Kilgour (in the chair), Messrs Macnab, Murdock, Gibbons and Read.
MINUTES.
The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed.
CORRESPONDENCE.
A letter from residents in Kirkwood street, asking for water to.be laid on, was ordered to stand over till next meeting. A letter was read from Mr Madden, stating that he intended to " run" a sixpenny bath iv connection with his business, and Crking for the use of the water,
and what would be the price till the end of June next. It was decided that the price for the remainder of the year should be 10s, on condition that the baths be a a public convenience. A letter was read from J. P. Jones, asking for the gratuitous use of the water laid on to the Templar Hall for the Sunday School meeting there. Granted. A letter from .Edward Lambert, asking for permission to lay on a three-quarter inch pipe to his premises from the pipe running along the boundary of his allotment. Besolved that it be granted if Mr Lambert gets permission from the owners _of the pipe for opening the same. A letter was received from Mr Wilson, Thames Gas Works, offering some iron pipes for sale. ...... MrGibbons proposed, and Mr Macnab seconded, that the Works Committee be instructed to treat with Mr Wilson for the purchase of the pipes. THE COUNTY'S SUBPLUS IBON. A letter was read from Mr E\ W. Hollis, County Clerk, in answer to one from the Water Committee, stating that the iron for the pipes could be had from the County Council en payment to be agreed upon between the>County and the Committee. • -; : ACCOUNTS. ~ The following accounts wero passed fen payment:—-W. Wilson, charcoal, 16s 6d ; G. McCaul, £2 lls 2d ; James Lymburn, 7s 6d, painting ; Meachem, 10» 6d, stand for seal; J. Eenshaw, £1. 2s 9d; W. Wilkinson, £1 9s'6d, advertising. ' - WAIOTAHI CBEEK SUPPIiT.: The Clerk to the Committee brougl |: under the notice oi the Committee a letter from Mr McLaren, stating that he was prepared to hand over the Waiotahi Creek water supply. ■ ; ' Dr Kilgour remembered this matter had been brought under their notice -.before,. and he was under the impression that it was agreed to take it over, although it would involve some little loss. Mr Head proposed that it be taken over, as it was partly, in the Borough. : Agreed to. , ; • EXTENSION OF SUPPLY. A letter from residents was read, asking for 'the water to be laid on to certain premises in Fenton street street south. n
', It was stated that this would be an expensive work. The Clerk also stated that the Shortland Saw Mill ; Company were about to ask for permission to connect a four-inch pipe with the Committee's main, for use in case of fire, and if they did it might be a condition to connect a small pipe with this. • ■ • iHeferred to the Works Committee to make enquiries,- and see if this arrangement could be arrived at. : ':-:
