. THIST>AY. (Before W. Fraser, Esq., Warden ) DHtJNKENNESS. James A. Gould was charged with being drunk and disorderly in Owen street, Grahamstown, on the 22nd inst. Defendant pleaded guilty, and was fined 20s, or 48 hours' imprisonment. ' John Doyle was charged with being drunk and incapable in Pollen street, Grahamstown, on ,the 22nd inst. Defendant pleaded guilty, and was fiqed 10s, cr 24 hours' imprisonment. ~'\ The former defendant was charged with maliciously breaking one pane of glass of the value of 10s, the property of one Wm. McDowell, on the 22nd inst. Case dismissed. - BREACHES 01? BYE-LAW. Elizabeth Beatty was charged with a breach of Bye-law No. 3, section 28, by
allowing one cow to wander at large in Mackay street, Thames, on 19th inst. Fined 2a 6d and costs. John Veal was charged with allowing a dog to wander at large in a public place on the 19th inst. without a collar being attached to it. Fined 5s and costs. Sarah Gordon was also charged with allowing a dog to be at large without a ticket for the current year being affixed thereto. : ,: N : Constable Page, sworn, deposed—l recognise the defendant. She lives in Pollen street. I saw the dog by her residence* Defendant's daughter said her mother had given the dog away, but it had come back. Sub-Inspector Bullen said the defendant had told him that she had given the dog away, but it had since come backhand she had poisoned it. The Bench adjourned the case till Wednesday in order to allow time for the police to ascertain whether the dog had been poisoned or not. Court adjourned.
