At the autumn meeting to-day the weather was fine, and the attendance moderately good. There was not much speculation. St. Leger Stakes of 100 SOTS-* sweepstakes. of 10 spvs._ each; Leger course : Redwood's Puriri (Lyford), 1; Logan's Dead Heat (Waddle), 2 ; Danebury,. 3 ;Middleton t scratched. Betting : 6 to 1 on Puriri, ;who made the running, and opposite the Grand Stand led by seven lengths. Going round the course Dead Heat gained a little, arid in the straight run up to Puriri's quarters^ but the latter came away again and won by three lengths, hands down; ; Dead Heat was hard ridden.
