QUEEN OF BEAUTY.
The belts, &c, connecting the turbine ' with the stampers and berdans, were' fixed into position this morning, and the turbine started,^ and. really worked splen-; didly, not only working the" stampers, but also working the. engine, the' steam having been shut off from it. The cost, as compared with the cost of the engine, is trifling,' and will make very. , small,, averages pay. '.'.'Bejridei, doing away with the use of coil, the bat-' - tery can be worked.without engine, drivers of stokers, as the amalgamators will be able to take charge of the turbine. .The' mine is looking well, being now in the charge of Mr E. McDonald (not Mr E. Macdonald of the Golden Calf), and when it is better opened, with cheap crushing at command it will be .paying dividends, as . the £6000 debt was cleared off with the '; profits of working the level above.
