TAIRUA.

(feom a cobbespondent.)

Nevesville, April 17

Ajax G.M.Co.—Campbell and party have just finished a crushing of over a week's duration—the result is 86 ounces of gold, which is a great improvement on the previous crushing. This party de. : serve to be rewarded for their perseverance under the difficulties they have had ,to contend with. The -amount of work they have done is very creditable to them, and I think they are in a fair way of being rewarded. The Company have had a trial crushing of 10 tons for a yield of 7 ounces. Considering the size of the reef it ought to pay the company well. The manager deserves credit for the manner he is trying to make this property remunerative to the shareholders.

Golden Arbow.—Mr Daykin has been up and taken charge of the Golden Arrow and the late Tairua Company's ground, in company with Mr Bayldon, surveyor. They have surveyed a line of tramway from the Golden Arrow to the battery, which is to be pushed a-hcad with all possible speed. The line that is surveyed is certainly a good one. The Golden Arrow paddocks are full of quartz ready for crushing. The prospects are still good.
