THIS DAY. Before J. Kilgour and H. Goldsmith, Esqs., J's.P.) William Wilkinson, William Williams, Charles Wilcher, and Wirimu Tairagate were, charged with drunkenness. They all pleaded gailty, and the three European defendants were fined 10s and costs, with the usual alternative. The Native, however, who had been disorderly as well as drunk, was fined 20a and costs, or in default 48 hours' imprisonment. WANDEEING GOATS. ': Michael Colman was charged with allowing three goats to wander at large. He pleaded guilty, and was fined 6s and costs. , , , - ii John Graham was charged with allowing one goat to wander at large. . He likewise pleaded guilty, and was fined 2s and costs. SUPPLYING LIQUOE AFTER HOXTBS. John Nicks was charged with supplying alcoholic liquor after the licensed hour for closing his licensed house, the Claremont Hotel, on the 9th instant. Defendant pleaded guilty. The house was closed, and he had only sold a woman named Alexander six pennyworth of beer. It was between 10 and 11 o'clock- - Mr Sub-Inspector Bullen stated "that up to the present there were no charges against the defendant, and there were no complaints about the keeping of his house. Fined 40s and costs. PETTY LABCENY. A young girl was charged with stealing two pairs of socks, the property of one Martin Gljnn. , . The defendant, who was weeping bitterly, admitted that she had stolen them,
- , : but she had not taken them away from the place she was in at service. Mr Sub-Inspector JBullen applied to have the charge laid under the 82nd section of the Justices of the Peace Act. This was conceded by the Bench, who after hearing that there were no previous convictions against the defendant, discharged her. Court adjourned.
