MOANATAIRI.
The specimens broken down yesterday were taken from a point on the western, side of the clay band, the patch having been, passed in the coarse of stoping forward. There is a little gold.showing on the.roof, and in the face, but there is .nothing like the show there was some days ago, in fact there is hardly any stone risible worthy of being-designated specimen*. ■* It is per* fectly palpable that the run of rich fto.no does not go up, but it is more than, probable that there is a fine block *of payable crushing, dirt to stope out, up to the tunnel level. It is -very likely that only the top of the run has been tapped, and indeed this theory is strengthened by the fact that the reef and the shot of gold look better on the floor of the^drive. There is a quantity of mineral showing in the face, which might lead to the assumption that gold will be got as driring proceeds. The mine was visited this morning by Mr Beetham and some other Auckland gentlemen. The crushing of general stuff at the battery is looking up well. ' - - ■ ' . ••
