XT- is hereby notified, that, after the Ist of January 1876, the use of Impressed Stamps on Bills of Lading is compulsory. Such documents must, after that date, be written upon paper previously impressed at the Head Office, and cannot be stamped after the execution thereof. 1 It' is requested, therefore, that Merchants, Shipping Agents, and:others concerned, will, without'delay, forward to this office, sdeh forms as they may rcqu're to he impressed, accompanied- by the uvual requisition and receipt of the Bank of New Zealand for the amount, less the authorised discount. Information may be obtained at any Stamp Office. , The provisions of the Act bearing on this , poiut are bb folhw :— "47. Except where express provision is made to the contrary, all duties are to be denoted by'impressed stamps only." '" 62. (1.)
