REPORT OF THE ANGLO-AMERI-CAN TELEGRAPH COMPANY.
London papers contain particulars of the semi-annual report of the Anglo*
American Telegraph Company. The Daily Telegraph says:-—The report of the Anglo-American Telegraphed Company just issued states that the total receipts for the half year were £261,772 Is. The, working expenses were £49,313 18s, and £50,000 has been added to the renewed fund, leaving. £162,458. The dividends already announced (making ~4% per cent, for 1876 on the ordinary, 6 per cent, on the preferred, and 3 per cent, on the deferred stocks) absorb this balance with the exception of £22,458. The decrease of £22,856 11s lid in the traffic has been the result of competition. Beyond a statement that of the existing traffic the Anglo obtains 77 per cent, and the Direct 23 per cent, the report makes no allusion to an amalgamation or other arrangement.
