MOANATAIRI.

A shot was fired in..the stope. this j morning which proved successful, mas- i much as it brought down about lOcw.t. of 1 specimen stone, a large quantity, of which j showed coarse gold in such abundance as to be classed amongst the best stone yet obtained from the run. Two pieces especially attracted, great attention. They were wedge-shaped, and weighed about half a-pound each, and to even a close observer they resembled two " chunks " of retorted gold moro than anything elseThere were also amongst the stone broken down two or three large lumps, in ;which the shot of gold—a broad yellow 'band—ran right through. It is needjless -to Fay that,.- these- also' , were rich. The gold can bo plainly .traced all .along the roof of the stope iwhere the run commences—a distance ofabout 18 feet from the present face of the stope —getting richer as it goes along. The present.face of,;the stope is now only 2 or 3 feet from the face of the drive, and driving must, necessarily bo resumed. There is a fine show left in the face, and the ' next shot ou^'V to bring down a/fine lot of golden s'oie. During yesterday the rails were hrd'up to a point near the face of the.drive, and all the mullock has been cleared away to allow driving to commence. The specimen crushing is proceeding', and thb general crushing is also going ahead with every indication of its turning out well.
