County Council THAMES COUNTY BY-LAWS. THE undermentioned By-Laws of the Thames County Council are hereby published by order of the Council, and Notice is hereby given that the said xJy-Laws respectively will come into force on the 31st day of March, 1877. In pursuance of the powers vested in them under " The 'Counties Act, 1876," the Council of the County of Thames ordain as follows, thiit is to say—-The word " blatighter-house " shall, for the purpose of this By-Law, mean and include the 'Buildings, Yards, and Premises in respect of which any license may be granted under such By-Law. (1). No. Building or Premises within the County shall be used as a place for the Slaughtering of Sheep or Cattle not the property oJ the owner of the Building or Premises, except licensed as hereinafter mentioned ; nor s>hall any Jiuilditg or Premises, unless licensed us aforosnid. be used for the Slaughtering of Sheep, fcwine, or Cattle the property of the owner alter notice served upon such owner, or left for him on such Premises, requiring such owner to discontinue such user, or . to take out a license under thi# By-Law for such Biiildibgs and Piemises. (2). Any owner or occupier of Premises may apply to the Gouncil fora licence to use the same as a Haugliter-house. such •application to be in-writing'in the form set . out \in .Schedule. No. 1 hereto affixed, and to be lodged with the ' County Clerk.' (3. For each such license there shall be paid by the licensee to the Couuty Fund a fee of rot less than £'5, or exceeding £25 ; and each license shall remain in force until the 31st day of December following the date of such license. . (4), Every licensed Slaughter-house shall be kept clean, and the Buildings scraped, lime-washed, and purified, so that no noxious or injurious effects may accrue to the public from such Slaughter*. . house. -:;.•;■■; (5). Every licensee shaft keep at all times, legibly written with ink, a Register in a form I; o be obtained from the County Clerk, of all Sheep and Cattle slaughtered at his licensed Premises, with the brand or mark on each Sheep-or Head of Cattle, and shall, it' so directed by the Council, transmit to the County Clerk a copy of the entries made in such Kegister -.-.• during the then previous seven days. . (6). There shall not,bo admitted into any licensed Premises any animal which, from injury or other cause, would not, when killed, be fit for human food j nor shall there be so admitted the carcase of any animal unfit for human feod. (7). Every licensee shall give immediate notice in writing to the County Clerk, and to the Inspector of Slaughter-houses, of any diseased animal being brought to such licensed Slaughter-house for slaughter. (8). All animals received into pens, stalls,'--or yards belonging to : licensed Slaughter-houses shall be properly watered and fed. (9), No animal shall, in such licensed Premises, be subjected to any pain not necessarily consequent^ upon or entailed by the act of slaughter. .-'..• (10). Every licensee shalladmit to the licensed Premises, at any hour of the day or night, any Officer of the Council or of the Armed ! Constabulary.
