The first annual meeting of this company was held in Mr Tothill's offices this afternoon, Warwick Weston, Esq., in the chair. The Balance-sheet and mine manager's report were submitted to the meeting. The" returns' of the mine, amount to £5,267 2a 6d —the greater portion of which has been obtained from tributers, to whom the old workings have been let at high percentages. These large returns have enabled the directors to prosecute with vigor>the very costly work of prospecting the mine at the' deeper levels without' l making any "call tipon shareholders. The working plant of the Company is in mdst excellent: order, and tramway commnnioatioh between the battery and all parts of>the mine is complete. The mine manager's*' report was- -very satisfactory;; the manager expressing the belief that, during the present year; he will be in a position to congratulate the directors on the realisation' of their jnost sanguine expectations.— After some. remarks iromiGaplains^ the chairman proposed the adoption-of the report and balance,, iheet.,,. Mr Peacock seconded; carried." On the motion of the chairman, seconded-by Mr A. Ewen,:the retiring directors -were re-elected. Mr John "Waymouth was 1 re-elected auditor, at a fee of £10 iOs.'— Auckland Star.
