In pursuance of the powers vested in them undi.r "The Counties Act, 1876;" the Council of the County of Thames ordain as follows, that is to say—The word " Slaughter-house " shall, for the purpose of this'By-Law, mean and in- - elude the Buildings, Yards, and Premises io respect of which aby license may be granted under such By-Law. (1). No Building or Premises within the County shall be used as a ■. place for the Slaughtering of Sheep or Cattle not the property ot the owner of the Building or Premises, except, licensed as here- :" inafter mentioned ; nor shall any Building or Premises,, unless licensed as aforesaid, be used for the Slaughtering of Sheep, Swine, or Cattle the property of the owner a!te.r notice served upon such owner, or left for him on - iuch Premises, requiring such Owner to discontinue such user, or to take out a license under this By-Law for such Buildings and Piemises. (2). Any owner or ocenpier of Premises may apply to the Council for a licence "to use the same a»_ a i*-laughter-house, such application to be in writing in the form set out in Schedule No. 1 hereto affixed, and to be lodged with the - CpuntyGlerk. ; i (3,\ For' each such license there shall be paid by the licensee to the County Fund a fee of rot less " than £5, or exceeding £25 ; and • = each license shall remHin in force until the 31st day of December following the date of such license. (4). Every licensed Slaughter-house shall be kept clean, and the Buildings scraped, lime-washed, and purified, so that no noxious or injurious effects may accrue to *- the public from such Slaughterhouse. .(5). -Every' licensee shall keep at all • . times,-legibly-written with ink, a Rrgister in a form to be obtained-' from the County Clerk, of all < Sheep and Cattle slaughtered at his licensed Premises, with the brand or mark on each Sheep or Head of Cattle, and shall, if so directed by the Council, transmit to the County Clerk a copy of the - . entries made in such Register - • during the then previous seven days. (6). There shall not be admitted into - any licensed Premises any animal which, from injury or other cau»e, would not. when killed, be . - ...fit" for human food'; nor shall- ,.. there be so admitted the carcase , of any- animal unfit for human feod. (7). Every licensee shall give immediate notice ia writing to the County Clerk, and to the Inspec- ■^ tor of Slaughter-honses, pf any diseased animal being brought to such licensed Slaughter-house for slaughter. - . (8). All animals received into pens, stalls, or yards belonging to Jicens,exL Slaughter-houses shall be properly watered and~fed."~ (9). No animal shall, in such licensed Premises, be subjected' to any pain not necessarily consequent upon or entailed by the" act of slaughter. (10)« Every licensee shall admit to the licensed Premises, at any hour of the day or night, any Officer of the Council or of the Armed Constabulary.
