General Notices " STAMP ACT, 1876." TRANSFERS OF SHARES. IT is hereby notified, that, after the Ist a January 1876, the uso of Impressed Stamps upon Trti' efers of Shares is compulsory, but transfers of shares may be stamped aCaSUinp Office by the Commissioner cr n Deputy Commissioner within oi,e month after exec* t lon without a fine. . - Managers and Secretaries of Companies Sharebrakerp, nnd o hers interested, are re' commended to forward, without delay, such forms of transfer m they may require to be impressed,.accompanied by the utual requisition and receipt from the Bank of Ifeir Zealand for amount thereof, less the authorised discount. Information may be obtained at any Stamn Office. ' The provieions of the Act relating hereto are as follow :— " • " 47. (1.) Except where express provision is mai'e to the contrary, all duties *re to be denoted by ir.pressed stamps only." "102. No transfer of any share or shares of-or in the stock or funds of any corporation. ~ company, or society whatever in New Zealand shall bo registered, recorded, or entered in the books of such corporation, company, or society, unless such transfer is duly stamped. " 103. No instrument of sale or transfer of any share or sharos shall be valid, either at law or in equity, unless the name of the pur- * i chaser or transferee is inserted therein_»t the - ' time of or before the execution of the instrument of sale or transfer j and, if any person executes a sale-note, tran»fer, contract-note, or other instrument of sale or transfer, in any manner, or for any purpose whatsoever, on* lees the ntime of the purchaser is inserted therein at the tiioe or before the execution ■ thereof, he shall forfeit a sum of not less than £20 or more than £100; and; if any sack , instrument, is so made or signed, it shall be , wholly and absolutely void. and, inoperative. and shall in no case be made available by. t&a . insertion of a name or any other pmrticulan afterwards; and the person selling or i taint* • ferring such share shall not be divested of h* interest therein, but shall remain liaUt thereon as if he had never sold or disposed ox the same.
