MOANATAIRI COMPANY.
manager's eepoht. "' The following is a copy of the~'weekly report of the mine manager, which was' to be submitted at the directors' meeting held at Auckland this morning. "-"Moanatairi Goldminiag, Company. Registered, Thames, March 2*4, 77.—The Directors. —Gentlemen,—l have the honor to report as "follows":—Bottom level south east cross-cut, No. 9 reef.—TJie leading stope 6 feet high is now carried home to clayband on the." run "of gold, and the. show of gold in roof is quite as rich now^as at any previous time. 'Jhe' T specimens near clay band are very solid, being, i n fact, half gold. The reef stripped in drive is partly broken down and shows a thickness of 2$ feet, a strong; hard, compact lode, with, good'piitches of gold disseminated through the", stone. • I estimate the stuff is fully worth sozs per Jon. There is a little copper and mundic on hanging -wall. ..part -of 7 reeft v «nd -good indications of further, r impVovemejit. It will take a day or: two'to" complete breaking" down" rcf home-to the face, as. jthe foot-wall is, a. mass of stringers, "all payable crushing'g|uff. The-leading, stope. west, is .worked brer cross-cutj and .the reef in: back; of stope has shown gold freely throughput. In drive west - from- cross-cut y the feef 4s, 5 feet .thick, and J am..expepting v daily to strike a small slide as in-upper level. North-west. crossrcut.-rrln; driving, east the All Nations leader.* hay considerably improved, being now 2 feet thick,: and showing gold freely.. I look for-further improvement here, as it will junction with No. 9 reef in and about the shot of gold worked from surface, tg tunnel level on the latter/reef, and il believe that similar results will be met with in this level'as in -the upper levels; r&bipjejs; 1 no change to mention in junction of 1 and 3 reefs or elsewhere. The engine i shaft is down 20 feetrfrdm present low level, and is going through splendid country ; everything else is going on well, f and our machinery is^in^ gQQcL working brderl I would congratulate ttie directors upon the splendid resuljt of .the past week's operations, namely 6235 dunces of retorted gold from 30cwt_jspecimens and our general crushings. The present and future .prospects of the mine,are.^xoeUei»t. —I am, Gentlemen, yours bbedieiiUy, (signed) ElComeb." ' " ". " ":-^
;••»-•-. '* FBOOBESSjBEPOBT;; yr g g Five hundred weight of specimens was the result of this\ morfiing's breaking down on the No. 9 reef. The show remains the same is before the r breaking down, and the lode looks as well as ever. This parcel was-taken from tfce stope. The shot of gold is lengthening further west. - The retorting ' tdbk "place on Saturday, and the result—,623sozs— was published on Saturday evening iri'a second edition. - .-The gold was conveyed to the bank in . a cab drawn by four horses. A large crowd surrounded;, the door of the Gold Office, all anxious" to hear the result. The melted return is 6164 ounces, making the loss about one per cent.
