This day.
The Cabinet have issued instructions to the several Departments occupying the new Government Buildings that while the present office hours—9.3o a.m. to 4.30 p.m.—are still to be kept, the custom of allowing half au hour's absence for luncheon is to.be discontinued, and no one during office hours will be allowed to' leave-the buildings without; special permission. An adjacent building will be' used as a refectory where Government, officers may obtain refreshment. The Government will give two hundred pounds towards furnishing the room and providing culinary requirements. Smoking is strictly prohibited in any part of the building. These regulations will com£ into force as soon as the heads of departments haye made thenecessary arrangements. . • ■'■!■■
