PIAKO.
' Therd is nothing, fresh' to report from this mine. Driving is "proceeding on the No. 2 reef, only a part of the lode being taken at first. There is a great deal of water coming from the reef which renders the drive rather uncomfortable to work in,
but it is expected thai as soon as the reef gets ..drained the drive will be comparatively speaking dry. The trial parcels crushed at the small battery have yielded returns averaging from 8 to. 9dwts and even more to the ton. The quartz now taken from No. 2 reef is being stacked at the large battery, though' it has not yet been determined when crushing will commence there. The tributes to be let on Saturday comprise two on the Nor 2 reef, two on the No. 1 reef, and several in the Bird in Hand section. There are several parties already looking - after these sections. _ .„- f-.-.^-fi-rv-. >--.----l.;w-S--*
