Excitement ia'Auokland. r .Great excitement in town this morning over the Moanatairi scrip. From an early hour there Twas a large:'concourses of brokers and the general public on th© Exchange. Ktimours were current that a further rise would take : place when the market opened. When the Exchange opened and a price was offered for sellers, none were to. be got. The quotations opened at £20, and speedily rose 4o £22. Caledonians have gone up to £4, with a tendency upwards. Thames' shares are in demand.. The scene in. the- Exchange to-day reminds one of the palmy days of the scrip mania.- - - - - - -
The directors of the Union Beach met to-day and came to terms with Mr Hanney.for his reappointment as manager at £500 a-year, with a house and other concessions. The Coromandel directors opposed the re-appointment. : ""-
