" STAMP ACT, 1875." TRANSFERS OF SHARES. ' 1 T is he-eby notified; that, after the l>t <t 1 January 1876, the use of Impressed Stamps upon Trai-sfers of Shares is' compulsory, but transfers of shares may be stamped at a Stamp Office by the Commissioner or a Deputy Commissioner within or<e month after* exeouton without a fioe. Managers and Secretaries of Companies, Sharebrokers, and o'hers interested, are recommended to forward, without delay, suchforms of transfer as they may require to be impressed, accompanied by the usual requisition and receipt from the Bunk of New Zealand for amount thereof, less the authorised discount. Information may bo obtained at any SbusD Office. • The provisions cf the Act. relating hereto are as follow:— "47. (1.) Except where express-provision is ma Je to the contrary, all duties ureto be denoted by i-npreseed stamps only." 11 102. No transfer of any share or shares' of or in the stock or funds of any corporation, • company, or society whatever in New Zealand shall be registered, recorded, or entered in the books of such corporation, company, or society, unless stun transfer is duly stamped. " 103. No instrument of sale or transfer of any share or shares shall be val,;d, either at law or in equity, unless the name of the'purchaser or transferee i« inserted therein at tftt time of or before tbe execution of the instrument of sale or transfer { and; if any person executes a rale-note, transfer, eontraet-note, or other instrument of sale or transfer, ia any manne.r, or for any purpose whatsoever, nn« ! less . the name of the purchaser is inserted - therein at the time or before the execution thereof, he shall forfeit a sum of not lew (nan £20 or more than £100; and, if any,su«k instrument is so made or signed, it shallow wholly and absolutely void and inoperative,. and shall in no cobc be made available by th« . insertion of a name or any other particular^ ' afterwards} and the person selling ortrwuV ferring such share shall not be divested of hii interest therein, but shall -remain liable ' thereon jis if he had never sold or disposed of: - the same. No shafebroker, auctioneer, commission agent, or any other person shall be ' entitled to any brokerage, commission, or any other fre or reward in respect of.the sal* or transfer of any such share, unless the instrument of sale or transfer is filled up witk all necessary particulars to make it a complete instrument, and is duly stamped.
