The country .is .fine working ground and is a great improvement on that of the level above. The main reef averages 4 feet through but is sometimes considerably larger and'sometimes less. It is a very promising, lode; and it may be predicted that some handsome yields will be taken from this level beforei it is worked out. The contractors for driving are also carrying a leading atope, and lately stoping behind them was started in the North drive. The crushing which has been proceeding at the company's battery for the past two weeks is the first crushing of quartz taken entirely from this level. It was completed this afternoon for the return of 189^ ounces.
