Finding of the Missing Man Halliwell.
■ 'Ag' reported in yesterday's' Star, a party.,consisting of Mr. J. Bull and Mr Jenkins of the Telegraph Department, and-'Cohslable Stapleton,'went Jout"inthe;' direction-, of Kerikeri to bring, in Halli-" >sll, who had been seen by, a Native wandering in the bush. They found the man as described, and brought him into Shortland last night. Halliwell has been seventeen days in the bush, and it is alleged that during that time he has had, nothing to eat except a few pipis and peri-winkles-which he gathered on the morning of the day before he was brought in. During the first period of his, wanderings Halliwell was. in a demented state, and his memory is confused as 'to what occurred) but reason returned and then the poor fellow, heartily ashamed of himself, . felt adelicacy about cominginagain. However, .when he found himself .with friends' he .was induced to come in and was safely lodged at the Imperial Hotel, Shortland, ■ last night, apparently not much the worse for his prolonged privations, beyond a loss of flesh. His discovery alive and restoration to society seems almost miraculous, ap he had been given up by most of those who knew the country and the peculiar circumstances' under which he disappeared.
