General Notices " STAMP ACT, 1875." . TRANSFERS OF SHARES. 1T is hereby notified, that, after the Ist o 1 January 1876, the use of Impressed Stamps upon Tracers of Shares is compulsory, bus transfers of shares mny be stamped at a Stamp Office by the Commissioner or' a Deputy Commissioner within one month after execu« t;on without a fine. Managers and Sectaries ot Companies, Bharebreker*,,and o'hers interested, are re* commended to forward, without, delay, such forms of transfer as they may jequire to ba impressed, accompanied by the usual requisi« lion and receipt irom the Bank of New Zealand for amount thereof, lees the authorised discount. . >- Information may be obtained at any Sttran Office. . * The provisions of the Act relating hereto are as follow:— , -• • . "47. (1.) Except whfre cxpres* provision is made to the. contrary, all duties are to be denoted by impressed stamps only.'V . ' - " 102. No transfer of any share or share* of or in the stock or fundstrf any corporation, conlpany, or society whatever in New Zealand shall be registered, recorded, or entered in the books of such corporation, company, or society, unless such transfer is duly stamped. 103. No instrument of sale or transfer of ; any share or shares shall be valid, either afaM | law or in equity, unless the name of th# parchaser or transferee is inserted therein at the * time of or before the execution of the instrument of sale or transfer ; and, if war person executes, a »ale*aote, transfer, contract-note, or other instrument of sale or transfer, in any manner; or for any purpose whatsoever, un« leas the name of the purchaser is inserted therein at the time or before the execution thereof, he shall forfeit a sum of not lew than £20 or mor* than £100; and, if any such instrument is so. made or signed, it shall be wholly and absolutely void tad'inoperative, 'and shall in no case be made arniUb'e by the insertion of a name or any other particular* afterwards j and the- person Belling or transferring such share shall not be divested of hit . interest therein, but shall remain I liable • thereon as if he had never sold or disposed ot the, same.
