THE undermentioned By-Laws of the Thames County Council are hereby published by order of the Council, aud Notice is hereby given that the said jtfy-Laws respectively will come into force on the 31st day of March, 1877. In pursuance of the powers vested in them undrr " The Counties Act, 1876," the Council of the County of Thames ordain as follows, that is to say—The word " Slaughter-house " shall, for the purpose of this By-Law, mean and include the Buildings, Yards, and Premises in'*i?e§pect~ of which any license may be granted under such By-Law. (1). No Building or Premises within the County shall be used as a place for the Slaughtering of Sheep or Cattle not the property , „-<)£ the owner, of the Building or Premises, except licensed as hereinafter mentioned ; nor shall any ■ ,Building - or' Premises, unless licensed as aforesaid, be used for the Slaughtering of Sheep, Swine, or Cattle the property of- the owner alter notice served upon such owner, or left for him on > such Premises; requiring- such owner to discontinue such user, or to take out a license under this By-Law for such Buildings and Premises. (2). Any owner or occupier of Premises may apply to the .Council for a \ license to use the same as a Slaughter-house, such application to be in writing in the form set: out in Schedule No. 1 hereto . affixed, and to be lodged with thei County Clerk. ; (3). For each such license there shall: be paid by the licensee to the .'I- County Fund a fee,, of .not, less, 'than £5, or exceeding £25 ; and! each license shall remain in force; Until the.3lst day..of December; following the date of such license. ' - ; (4)* Every licensed Slaughter-house: shall be 'kept clean, and the Buildings scraped, lime-washed,' J -.' • and purified,, «so. that .jao. noxious or injurious effects 'may accrue to the public from such Slaughter- - X "house. -...-- . . , , i (5). Every licensee shall'keep'at all times, legibly written with ink, a .Register in a form to be obtained from the County Clerk, of all Sheep and Cattle slaughtered at "his:: licensed. Premises, with the "Brand or"mark" on each' Sheep or ; Head of Cattle, and shall, if so . n directed. by .the.Cpuncil, transmit to the County Clerk a copy of the entries made in such Register ; - - during the then previous seven, days! There shall not be admitted into ' any licensed Premises any animal which, from injury or othe^ cause, would not, when killed, be .fit. for human food; nor shall there be so admitted the carcase of any animal unfit for human * • food. - - . , • i (7). Every licensee shall give immediate notice in writing to the County .Clerk, and to the Inspec* tor of Slaugnter-houses, of any diseased animal being brought to such licensed Slaughter-house for ' slaughter. (8). All animals received into pens, stalls, or yarda belonging to licensed^ Slaughter-houses shall be properly watered and fed. (9). Noranimal shall, in such licensed Premises, be 5 subjected to any pain not necessarily consequent upon or entailed by the act of slaughter. (10). Every licensee shall admit to the licensed Premises, at any hour of the day or night, any Officer of the Council or of the Armed Constabulary. : (11). Any person guilty of any offence - of omission or commission against this By-Law, shall forfeit and pay a sum not exceeding £5. Schedule No. 1.
