Lands for the Thames.
Messrs C. E. Mitchell and A. Brodie waited'yesterd»y on Mr D.-A. Tole, Coramissioner of Waste Lands, to inquire into the probability of lands in the Thames Valley being soon available for settlement. Mr Tole informed them of what lands were likely to be available immediately, and stated that the matter would be brought before the Waste Lands Board at its nest meeting. He also assured the genflemen that the- Board were not only desirous, but anxious to have those lands made available for the people as quickly as possible by throwing them open for settlement. There were, he said, other lands available in the hands of the Government, which had not yet been transferred to the control of the Board. Messrs Brodie and Mitchell then waited on the Hon. Mr Whitaker, in reference to these lands, and having stated the object of their visit, the .Hrn. Mr Whitaker said, that if, upon inquiry, he ascertained there was no obstacle in the way, the lands in the hands of the Government would be at once gazetted. He expressed himself desirous of assisting as far as possible in the settlement of the lands in the Thames County.—Herald. .
