IT isheicby notified, that, after'the Ist o January 1876, the use of Impressed Stamps upon Tra- sfers of Shares i 8 compulsory, but transfers of shares may beslarnpedataStamp Office by the Commissioner or a Deputy Commissioner within ore month after exeeut'on wiihout a fine. Managers and Secretaries of Companies, Sharebrokern, and o hers interested; are recommended to forward, without delay such forms of transfer ns they may require to be impressed, accompanied by the ugual requieilion and receipt irom the Bank of New Zeai land for amount thereof, lees the authorized discount. , Information may be obtained at any Stamp Office.' r The provisions of the Act relating hereto are as follow :— " 47. (1.) Except whfre express provision is made to the contrary, all duties are to be denoted by i-npreseed stumps only." " 102. No transfer of any share or shares of or in the stock or funds of any corporation, company, or eociety whatever in New Zealand ehall be registered, recorded, or entered in the books of such corporation, company, or society, unless such transfer is duly stamped. " 103. No instrument of sale or transfer of ■ any share or shares shall be valid, either at law or m equity, unless the name of the pur- * chaser or transferee is inserted therein at the time of or before the execution of the instrument of sale or transfer ; and, if any perion executes a rale-note, trantfer, contract-note, I or other instrument of sale or transfer, in any manner, or for any purpose whatsoever, un* lees the name of the purchaser is inserted therein at the* time or before the execution thereof, he shall forfeit a sum of not less than £20 or more than £100; and, if any suoh instrument is so made or signed, itshail be wholly and absolutely void and inoperative, and Bhall m no case be made available by the insertion of a name or any other particulars afterwards; and the person selling or transferring suoh share shall not be divested of big intoreet therein, but shall remain liable thereon as if he had never sold or disposed ox the same. And if such person is a licensed Bharebroker, his license shall, on any'coaviction under this section, be absolutely forfeited, and he shall not thereafter be qualified to act as a broker, or to have a fresh license issued to him. " 104. No sharelroker, auctioneer^ commission agent, or any other person shall be entitled to any brokerage, commission, t>r - any other fee or reward in respect of the sale or transfer of any Buch share, unless the in« etrnmeat of sale or transfer is filled up with. all necessary particulars to make it » com* plete instrument, and is duly stamped. DEGHSTRATION OF ABBREVIATED At ADDRESSES. — With the view of saving as much as possible the coafc of the transmission of Telegrams to New Zealand from other countries, a register will be kept at every Telegraph Station in New Zealand for the Registration of Arbitrary or Cypher Addresses in the shape of one or more words. No fee will be charged for registration. Persons registering will require to communicate the Cypher or Arbitrary Address to their Correspondents. The Telegraph Companies register names and addresses of telegraph correspondents free of charge, at all their Stations, and in v London,at 74, Old Broad street; 8, Leadenliall street; and 42, Finsbury Circus.
