Musical Entertainment.
- Under the above title an entertainment was given in the Good Templar Hall last evening before a large audience hy the members of the Graham stown Wcsleyan Church Choir, in aid of the funds of-that^ body, or, more, strictly speaking, for,<6eT purpose of raising funds for the procuring of a new tune book which is abbut.being published in England, also a harmonium. The, Rev. R. S. Sunn occupied the chair, and after a few remarks explanatory of the object-of the entertainment,\JßoLr Bell / who had the sole direction of the musical " arrangements, and who. played all the ac-, companiments in his usual manner, opened the entertainment by a selection oh the harmonium. The choir then gaveananttem, "I will wash my hand," very efficiently, as also'were the other pieces; boilf a«Fcred and secular, which were rehde'fed' by them. Miss Hayles, a young lady who, we believe, made her debut last night be* fore a Thames audience, then sang Handel's beautiful ".Angels ever bright and fair" very creditably indeed, and received a fair amount of applause. She !' also sang " Constance," and in.reiponse to the evident wishes of the audience wa9 compelled to repeat the ,last verse of it. After songs by Mi9s Viall and Mr Dunstan, and a reading by Mr Miller, Miss * Keven sang " Sleep on loved one," a very "pretty song, the chorus to: which by the Choir went a long way towards procuring the encore which-it received. " A Father's love " by Mr Targett followed, which being encored was responded to by "The Old, Sexton." A'reading by Mr Richards,, and' a song.,by/Mr S. Meachem then .followed, and the Entertainment was brought to a closa by the singing of the National, Anthjjm. t We must not forget to mention that^ Mrs Bunn played a selection of well-known airs with variations on the pianoforte) which was well reoeired. 7 >*;;;
