TO CORRESPONDENTS.
"Macduff"—You letter is libellous. If you wish it published you must assume the responsibility by putting your re«l name to it, but we would suggest, as the best remedy, reporting the irregularities indicated to the Officer Commanding tho Dis trict. It would also be more correct than anonymous letters to a newspaper.
" Obsebvkb " —The matter of your letter has been dealt with by "W- Carpenter" in the columns of our -contetnpo'ary, nnd it would tire the patience of our readers too much to expect them to wade through your figures, which are about as reliable as "W. Oafpenterß'a." Continual carping at the Chairman and County Council will rot do any good. We pvefor \o tako the County Surveyor's estimate of the acr-age of tie County to yours. When you can discuss a public quesfcion at moderate length aivl without imputing unworthy motives to public man. we shall be glad to hear from yon. bnfc not till then.
