A Spieitualistic Cask.—The -grand jury at the Middlesex sessions hare returned a true bill against William Lawrence, for falsely pretending that he had power to communicate with the spirits of deceased and other persons, and to summon and produce such spirits in a' materialised form, and that •' divers. niusical instrument?, to wit, tambourines, banjos, and divers bells, were present by means of such spirits summoned produced, and caused to be present,., whereas, in truth, the said William Lawrence bad not the power to communicate with-the ; spirits of deceased and other persons/? and to do the other things mentioned in the charge. A second count charged him with unlawfully,.conspiring V by subtle means and deceits to obtain divers sums of < money, &c., contrary to the statute." It had been previously arranged that in the event of a true bill being returned the trial should be postponed till next month.
