General Notices "STAMP ACT, 1875." - TEANSFEBS OP SHARKS IT is hereby notified, that, after the Ist o January 1876, the use of Impressed Stamps upon Trarsfers of Shares is compulsory, but transfers of shares may be stamped at a Stamp Office by the Commissioner - or 4 Deputy Comn>iehionfr within ore month after execu* ton without a fi to. Managers and Secretaries of Companies, Sharcbrokerp, and o hers interested, are re« commeuded to forward, without delay, such forms of transfer ne they ,may require to be impressed, accompanied iy the usual requisi* lion and receipt from the Bank of: New Zealand for n mount thereof, less the authorized discount. Information may be obtained at any Stanm Office. ' > r The provisions of the Act relating'hereto are as follow :— "47. (1.) Except where express' provision -is made to th'o contrary, all duties ire to be .. denoted by impressed stumps only." " 102. No transfer of any share or shares " of or in tho etock or funds of any corporation, company, or society whatever in N«w Zealand shall bo registered, recorded, or entered in the books of such corporation, company, or society, unless suc'a transfer is duly, stamped/ " 103. No instrument of sale or transfer of any share cr shares shall be valid, either at law or in equity, unless the name of the piirv chaser or transferee is insetted therein at tha time of or before the execution of the instrument of sale or transfer ; and, if any person executes a' nale-note, transfer, contract-note, or other instrument 6f sale or transfer, in any manner, or for any purpose whatsoever, unV lees the name of the purchater is minrted therein at the fiae or before the execution thereof, he shall forfeit a sum of not less thtn£2o or more than £100. ; and, tif any raeli instrument is so made or signed, it shall b* wholly and absolutely roid .and inoperative* and shall in no case be. made STatlabi* by tj*. insertion of a name or any other-particulars afterwards; and the penon selling or tnins-t, ferring such share shall not be divested of hip! interest therein, but shall ' remain liabli' thereon as if he had nerer sold or disposed 6t ' the same.
