KUMARA.
Friday.
His Excellency and suite, accompanied by the Hon. C. C. Bowen and Mr McArthur, Chairman of the Westland County Council, arrived at Kumara, and were met by the members of the Arahura Eoad Board, who presented an address of welcome to His Excellency. They went over a portion of the land, and washed out a prospect in one of the claims, and on returning, the Vice-Regal party was entertained at a public luncheon. The Governor said Kumara was the most wonderful goldfield he had seen, and he had visited a number in Queensland. He left for Greymouth at 2 p.m. On crossing the Taradale he was received by the Grey County Chairman (Mr Guinnes«), who welcomed him to the district, and presented him with an address.
