AUCKLAND.
This^ay. Murder Toy a Maori at Ngaruawaaia. At Ugaruawahia a man named Samuel Morgan was murdered by a Maori named Te Patiu in the lock-up. Morgan has lived with the King natives as a pakehaMaori, but was driven out by the Kingites and a few days ago sentenced to imprisonment by the Resident Magistrate for vagrancy. The murderer was a fellow prisoner with Morgan. The Maori escaped on Detective Doolan's horse, which was outside, but was recaptured near Alexandra. The gaol is said to be insecure.
