WELCOME (OHINEMURI).
The following report has just been re* ceived from the mine manager:—"To the legal manager and directors of the Welcome Gr. M .Co. — Gentlemen, — The drive on the No. 4 leader has been extended a distance of sixteen feet during the past fortnight in the north drive. The lode has increased in size, and is now 2ft Gin in width, and is well defined by hanging and foot-walls. The strike of. the lode is'gradually turning more to the east in the direction of the main reef drive, and will eventually be proved to be the Welcome main reef. In, ,the south drive a leader was cut six inches in width at a distance of twenty-five feet from the main drive crossing the one we were.working upon at right angles, and cutting it out from its course. I have driven eighteen feet upon it, and it is now a fine body of stone two feet ttyck. The prospects have scarcely been sojgopd'as formerly, but will no doubt improve as it is carried forward. I have the honor to remain, yours faithfully, Edwin LOWS, Mine Manager."-- .
