AUCKLAND.
This day.
To-day the Mayor presented a bat to R. J. Yates as a mark of appreciation of his batting in the cricket match. He made a highly complimentary speech. Mr Yates modestly returned thanks. Champagne at the Mayor's expense was dispensed.
