NELSON.
Friday.
The match was resumed at 11.30, but most of our men failed to make a stand against the splendid bowling of Hill and Shaw, and they were all out by 2 o'clock for 56, of which 15 were byes and 4 legbyes. Halliday and Barnett made 8 each, Cross and Wiggen (the latter a young boy) 6 each. Shaw bowled 9 wickets and Hill 4. The luncheon adjournment then took place, after which Nelson will go in again. The Nelson team went to the wickets at 3 o'clock for their second innings, and by half-past four they were all out for 39. Emmett bowled instead of Hill, and his fast left-handers did terrible execution, as did Shaw's slows. The largest scorers were:—Cross 7, Selcock 6, and Levin 5 ; byes and leg-byes 8. This day. The Synod closed last night. The Eev J. E. Selwyn, newly-elected Bishop of Melanesia, is to be consecrated here to-morrow morning. The Cricketers leave for the West Coast to-morrow.
