Thursday. • There-are at present nine persons for trial- at the- ensuirig sittings of. .the Supreme Court to be held on the first Monday, in April, and one female for trial at the Supreme Court at Tuapeka on the 20th March. • .
With the change from provincial administration the monthly escorts appear to have' disappeared, for no instructions as to their, continuance have been received by, the Treasury Department. The probability is that the banks will -forward their returns at their own responsibility in future. . In the city Police Court to-day, .Mr Watt decided that playing a game of billiards to determine who should pay for the hire, of the table was gambling, and inflicted a nominal penalty in a case of this kind brought before him. ' This day. Mr Bradshaw reports stocks as fol- - lows i—Colonial Banks, £1 16s ; Bank of I New Zealand, £19 .5s ; National Insurance, £1 9s; South British, £3. 3s; Daily Times,-£5 ss. Messrs Eoyse, Stead and Co. report: —Wheat, 4s 6d to 4s Bd, for samples; flour, £14, with downward tendency; oats, 2s 2d to 2s 3d ; "barley, 2s 9d to 4s; bran, £5; pollard, £6 10s; oatmeal, £13 to £1410s. ■■"•■■■ . .
