RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT

(Before W. Frn3er, Esq. Warden.) ALLEGED MTTBDEB.
James Rogers alias Armstrong, on remand, was charged that on or about March 29th, 1868, he did wilfully, feloniously, and with malice aforethought, murder one William Mathers, otherwise knoyrn as Red BilL. •
Mr Sub-Inspector Bullen stated that since the prisoner ha i been remanded, he (Mr Bullen) baa used every exertion to get evidence of the prisoner's guilt. He had telegraphed all over the colony but without success, and as he could offer no further evidence there was nothing but for him to apply for prisoner's discharge. He had learned that the prisoner had several times passed himself off as a, notorious murderer, and had been arrested. ■
After administering a caution His Worship discharged the prisoner. Court adjourned.
