ANSWER TO EDITOR OF ADVERTISER.

(To the Editor of the Evening Sta"r.):

SiB.T-^Either the editor of the Thames Advertiser is afflicted with that kind of blindness which is said to be of the worst kind, because the afflicted one won't see what he might see, or else he is more stupid than eVen his greatest detractor could imagine. In commenting on a letter written by-"Anti-Humbug," having reference to a paragraph' which appeared in your issue of Saturday, in which paragraph! " Auti-Humbug " says he cannot find the phrase " a state of statu quo," quoted by you from the Advertiser ; the editor says " Like bur correspondent we are unable to discover it," and suggests that " Anti-Humbug " " had better apply to our contemporary, or to the writer of the silly paragraph, to be enlightened." J do not care to enlighten " Anti-Humbug,", but asit seems to me only right that the blindness of the Advertiser's editor should be relieved, and: thathe should be shown things written in his own paper of which he appears, notwitbstanding^lns research, to be ignorant, I "beg to* inform him through you that if he_-will Jook at the third page of his Sahi'rday's is?ue, column Sheading tf Mining M-aJJ^rs," sub-lieading " Crown Princess/ lu^iThSnd in the 10th and 11th lines of thi£. paragraph the •words, " as the company '»» now ma/state. of statu quoi"^-I am, &c, The ■ Wetter of the Silly :; - •■■ PARAGRAPH.
