The Thames Harbour Board.

The first meeting of the above Board was held to«day ia the Borough Council Chambers. Present—His Worship the Mayor, in the chair; Messrs Gibbons, •Scott Hunter, Butler, D. G. MacDonnell, Davies, A. Price, and Mennie. The Mayor said that as it was at the request of the members of the Board he had called the meeting, i£ would be well for him to, say a few introductory words. He then proceeded to detail the principal objects of -the Board, such as the. acquisition of the foreshore. He ..would, propose, a resolution, and that was the election of a chairman. He considered,they could not do better than elect Mr Davies, who he said had taken always . great interest in the harbour. He proposed Mr Daries as their chairman, and Mr Butler seconded'the proposition^ Mr Davies was elected unanimously. Mr Davies thanked the other members:of- the Board, and said he thought their first duty was to improve the harbor, also he would suggest that . ! they should work as economically as possible. ,He then said they would have to ' appoint some one to conduct the correspondence, and next to fix on some place where the* mightmeet.
