QUEEN OF THE MAY.
Retorting of the quicksilver took place last night, and 3ozß sdwts were obtained. It was lodged in the Bank of New Zealand, and the total result of the crushing was melted into a fine ingot weighing 4130z5. It thus lost a little' more than one per cent,' the total retorted return amounting to 41?ozs sdwts. The total amount of stuff crushed was 468 loads. The chief reason of the unexpectedly large yield was the splendid way the amalgam yielded, there only being 887ozs of it. - It thus. went just a little over one half. >"
