The Otago Education Board have resolved that the Government be requested to grant free passes by railway to all girls and boys attending the Upper classes of the High and Grammar schools for training as teachers.

Upwards of 150 shareholders attended the half-yearly meeting of the Colonial Bank. Mr James Battray, who presided, said the Bank had secured several of the best accounts in New Zealand, and with its New Zealand proprietary the bank had great advantages. The gross profits increased each month, and the shareholders could therefore take their 6 per cent, dividend with a clear conscience.
