Otra special correspondent's report of the third day's play between the English' Eleven and Twenty-two of Auckland; will appear to-morrow. England won the match in one innings and twenty-two runs. ■ ■ i The sudden death; of Mr jParfcXJibbona, of Wellesley-street, furnishes an almost startling example of the uncertainty of life, and the necessity for such preparation as is within the power of any man against the chances of a common mortality. Only, a few months ago at the solicitation of Mr Thomson, the late Mr Gibbons assured his life for £500 in the Australian Mutual Provident Society. "When by the doctor he was pronounced to be one of the finest and soundest men at hisage( 28 years) in Auckland.: Only one half-yearly premium had been paid upon the life. None who knew him.could ever have: doubted but;that he would have reached to his full prospect of longevity. By such a sudden example the necessity of life assurance is forcibly impressed upon us all. —Auckland Star.
