ARISTOCRATIC SUICIDE.

People are so entirely absorbed by the present crisis that they can give their attention to nothing else. A drama has just occurred within a stone's throw of the boulevards, which, had it not been indirectly connected with some of the leading actors in the Eastern question, would have escaped almost unnoticed. A young, man of eighteen, Stephen Catari, a near relation of Prince Milan, and a nephew of Calimaki Catargi, the Roumanian Consular Agent in Paris, has committed suicide under very distressing circumstances. A few months ago young Catargi was led, or rather misled, into incurring expenses much, beyond his means. All went on smoothly for three or four months, at Ihe end of which his finances were at a low ebb, and there was no chance of a fresh supply of money from home. One day last week he called at the house of a friend, and, probably wishing to conceal his emotion, attempted to play on the piano. Suddenly he got up, exclaiming as he did so, " J etouffe " (I am suffocating). Then, throwing off his coat and waistcoat, he took a revolver from one of his pockets and shot himself through the heart. His parents, who reside, in Bucharest, were at once informed by telegraph of their son's death. .M. Catargi was a cousin of Prince Ghikas, who was killed four years ago in a duel by Prince Souzn. —London Telegraph.
