CANADIAN GULLY.
Thomas Quaelly, who lately had one of the richest of the Golden Age tributes, has recently taken up a piece of ground' in the Canadian Gully, Moanatairi Creek, and with some mates made a sleigh road from the claim to the tramway, and taken out a trial parcel of 6 tons of stuff. This has been crushed at the Moanatairi battery, and it returned 6ozs gold. The gold is exceedingly poor, and the crushing in consequence of this and the small size of the leaders is unpayable. If the gold had been richer the party might have been induced to continue operations, but as it is they have decided to " jack up " their ground. '
