Cardinal Manning has no intention whatsoever of settling permanently in Home. His Eminence has left England to visit the city which for him is the capital of Christendom, incompliance with the ordinary obligation of etiquette on members of the Sacred College. Even Emperors have to pay taxes now-a-days, and the decision of the Emperor of Austria to abandon the privilege of having the Hapsburg estates exempted from taxation was received with great enthusiasm by the Finance Committee of the Eeichsrath at Vienna. This spontaneous act will bring a considerable addition to the state revenue.
