liittlejohn and party have lately pegged out part of the old Great Eepuhlic claim at Tapu, but have not yet had their claim registered. Having uncovered a; reef about 2|- feet through they took out a trial parcel of three tons, and on crushing it at Stephens' battery (late Buckland's) they obtained the satisfactory yield of 2aOz"s

gold, which they brought to town to-day. They have also cut another reef, which appears richer, and is larger thau the one first uncovered, but they have not yet had a crushing from it. Like most of the Tapu gold the parcel obtained a good price.
