LETTER DELIVERY.
(To the Editor of the Eyeniug Star.)
Sic, —I see by your paper of to-day a letter signed " .Ratepayer," complaining of his letters not being delivered at his residence in Hill street, Block 27, and blaming the Post Office official now in charge. I wonder whether " Ratepayer " has inquired at the office about the nondelivery ? If not, I think he should have done so before he made a public complaint. On more than one occasion I have had to ask for an "explanation, and have always been treated courteously. I can testify to the long hours the officials are engaged, as I live near the Post Office ; the place is lit up sometimes till ten o'clock at night. lam almost a stranger to the Acting Postmaster, never having had five minutes' conversation with him, but a love of justice compels me to try and prevent a hard-working, civil and obliging Government official being blamed undeservedly, especially as it is not allowed that persons holding office under Government reply to correspondents through the Press. Hoping you will excuse my trespassing on your space, — I remain, &c, • Justice. Shortland, Jan, 22nd,'77
