HARBOR BOARD.
Election of Members.
The election of three members to represent those who have paid at least £2 in harbor and wharfage dues during the past year was held to-day in the Borough Council Chambers. There were five candidates nominated, but one, Mr E. Graham, retired from the contest, which was left to Messrs Davies, Mennie, Souter and Price. The election was a very quiet one. Fo cabs bedecked with flowers and placards brought voters to the poll, no sound of popping corks or turning of taps betokened to the thirsty passer-by that there was beer going ad. lib. with bread and cheese to satisfy hunger, and consequently there was not that crowd around the Borough Chambers who look on such proceedings as these, invitations to imbibe. TJp to about 2 o'clock only forty-six persons had voted and the excitement was not intense. .Occasionally some one "would stroll in and ask if he had' a vote, and being generally answered in the negative stroll out again.
