Thames Borough Council.

The usual fortnightly meeting of the Thames Borough Council was held last night in the Borough Council Chambers. Present: His Worship the Mayor-*—Crs Eenshaw, Macnab, Wilson, Head, Gibbons and Ehrenfried. MINUTES. The minutes of the last meeting were read over. LETTEBS. Letters were received from residents in Eyre street between Walters street and Mary street, and from Henry Cook, of Bella street. Resolved .that both should be referred lo the Work* Committee. . The Mayor said he had visited the place and found that the expense of diverting the drain underneath the house would be £90. The matter was ordered to stand over. WAIOTAHI CBEEK. A letter was received from Mr Miller on behalf of Mr Somerfield regarding the . flooding of the Waiotahi creek; It was resolved that without acknowledging any legal right, the matter should be seen to as soon as the money was available. FINANCE. An account from Mr W.-Sims amountto £50 5s 6d was referred to the Works Cemmittee. The wages sheet of '£26 8s and accounts for stone-breaking 12s 3d were passed for payment. BYE-IA.WS. It was agreed .that the fee for licensing public buildings should be fixed at £1 Is, and for slaughter-houses at £25, and it was resolved to call a special meeting on Thursday next to consider the bye-laws. . BIG PUMP. - On this subject considerable discussion ensued, and on the motion of Cr Eenshaw seconded by Cr Bead, it was resolved to send the following suggestions to the Hon. F. Whitaker:—(l) That the first item of income be the contribution of mines. (2.) That the balance, if any, of second item of income (Borough Gold Duty) be held by the Government until its disposition be provided for. (3.) One person on behalf of the Borough, and one person on behalf of the County to be on the Committee of Management during the continuance of this arrangement. The Council then adjourned; [
