Annual Meeting of the Members of S. George's Church.

The annual meeting of the congregation of S. George's Church was held yesterday evening in the Church. It unfortunately happened that the evening was very stormy indeed, which no doubt prevented very many, who would otherwise have been there from being present. As ifc was 27 people with some friends assembled in all.

The Chairman said that though it was a small meeting they would commence proceedings at the proper time, and, having offered up prayer, called on Mr E. T. Wildman to read the minutes of the last general meeting. The minutes of the last meeting and of a special meeting were then read and confirmed. Mr Wildman then read the report and balance-sheet, whichwere adopted.

Mr McCullough said that if not out of order he would be glad to know what efforts the congregation had made to meet Mr Wildnian's offer of providing an organ provided the congregation would pay off a portion of the debt. The Eev. Y. Lush said that 18 collecting cards had been given to ladies of the congregation, and he hoped to have been able to report to that meeting, but owing to the recent bad weather they had been unable to meet. On two cards he had rereceived there was a sum of £80 set down. The Rev. V. Lush then nominated Mr E. T. Wildman as incumbent's churchwarden for the current year, and Messrs Power and Stoney were nominated as the congregation's warden. The former was elected. The following gentlemen were then elected vestrymen:—Messrs Jefferson, J. E. Perry, E. Cook, McCullougb, R P. Day, Stoney, W. 0. Wright and Teasdale. Messrs Chapman and Osborne were appointed auditors. . Some discussion then ensued relative to the Bank overdraft, salaries, and the best means of paying off a portion of the debt on the church. On the latter question it was agreed that the vestrymen be a committee to carry out the resolution passed at the last special meeting. Votes of thanks to the ladies and gentlemen of the Choir, and to the Chairman terminated the proceedings.
